KPI Dashboard Implementation for Data Privacy Management
Definition and implementation of interactive dashboards to track data privacy KPIs across vendors, assets, and processes using Power BI and OneTrust data.
Manufacturing Client
2022-2023
Client Description
A global manufacturing company, listed in the DAX 50 ESG, operating across the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors. The client’s Data Protection Office manages all privacy-related records in OneTrust and required improved visibility into key metrics to drive governance and accountability.
Problem
Lack of Visibility into Privacy-Relevant Operational KPIs
The client stored data protection information for hundreds of entities in OneTrust — covering vendors, assets, processes, and risk assessments. However, there was no central view to monitor trends, measure compliance activity, or support internal reporting. Manual data exports were time-consuming and error-prone. A scalable, dynamic dashboard solution was needed to support transparency and decision-making at scale.
Solution
KPI Definition and Dashboard Development Using Power BI
In close collaboration with the client’s Data Protection Office, relevant KPIs were defined across key categories such as vendor risk, process coverage, and data quality. A data model was designed in Power BI, supported by structured queries and schema definitions to ensure consistency. Custom dashboards were built to support both central governance and local entity views. Rollout support and user enablement were provided to scale the dashboard across more than 200 entities.
Technologies & Frameworks
Privacy KPI Visualization with Power BI and OneTrust Integration
Power BI – used to build and deploy interactive dashboards tailored to privacy and compliance use cases
OneTrust REST API – served as the data source for extracting relevant entity-level privacy information
Power Query / DAX – applied for data shaping, modeling, and custom KPI logic
Power BI Service – used for publishing, access control, and user rollout to over 200 organizations
Excel – supported KPI definition, stakeholder alignment, and documentation
